Palo santo (sacred wood) is the name used for several species of South American trees close to gaïac and used in local traditional medicine. The verawood is one of them. It grows in a region that stretches from southern Peru to northern Argentina. It has a very hard wood and heavier than ebony.
The verawood produces aromatic essential oils that protect it from moisture in the Amazon rainforest. Its color is first golden yellow. Then it turn on an extraordinary green hue in the sunlight., sometimes even bluish that makes it absolutely unique.
