Materials such as wood and fine stones are all the more precious to us because they are rare and come from distant regions. They put us in presence of the beauties of the earth, and evoke extraordinary landscapes and cultures. However, exoticism also has its pitfalls. Deforestation and mining activities related to the extraction of stones and precious metals are depleting our planet and human beings who work there.
I am fully aware of the contradiction between this reality and the pleasure of seeing, touching and working with living and noble materials such as wood and gems. And although the amount taken from nature remains very small for the manufacture of small jewelry objects that I elaborate in my workshop, however, it is not without any consequences. Also, I made the decision to pay a 10% contribution on the sale of each object to an association for the protection of the rainforest and native peoples.
If every time a tree had been cut down to make wood, we had the wisdom to replant one of the same species., we would have been able to preserve biodiversity and would not be today in the position to make the work of the crafters more and more difficult.
I initially chose to support the french association Coeur de Forêt. which intervenes in different parts of the world to fight against deforestation.
